Warts are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. As the former Director of the Human Papilloma Virus Section of NYU Skin and Cancer Clinic, Dr. Vogel is well suited to their diagnosis and treatment.
There are various therapeutic modalities, these include:
- Salicylic Acid
- Applying Acid
- Freezing with Liquid Nitrogen
- Patient Application of Immuno-modulating Creams
- Electro-Surgical Destruction
- Injection of Chemotherapeutic Solutions
The modality is chosen after discussion with the patient to ensure the best possible outcome. Occasionally, a Biopsy (done in the office with local anesthesia) will be performed when a definitive diagnosis is needed to manage the condition.
