Certain growths can be unattractive and although they are harmless (benign) they can frequently be removed for cosmetic reasons. After discussion, Dr. Vogel can remove most of these ‘undesirables’ in the best possible manner, leading to the most desirable result.
However, pigmented spots of skin that manifest any of the following characteristics should be evaluated:
- Bleeding
- Larger than 5mm (a pencil eraser)
- Itching
- Multiple colors
- Changing in color, shape or size
The evaluation of moles can lead to treatment for both medical and cosmetic purposes. Management of irregular or atypical moles is performed routinely (see Dysplastic Nevi).
